Adult Christian Initiation
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the formal process for adults who are seeking to be baptised. Once accepted as a candidate for the Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist), the adult candidates, who are now called catechumens, meet with the parish sacramental co-ordinator. There is no set program as the formation depends on the background of each catechumen. The period of formation usually lasts several months.
